Alberta Land Titles recently clarified a key detail in August 2026's edition of Alberta Title Talk: the new $25.00 fee applies specifically to re-examinations under an existing, deficient DRR. It does not apply when submitting a new DRR.
This distinction creates an interesting option for conveyancers: if a submission comes back deficient, you could theoretically avoid the fee by filing the corrected documents under a new DRR instead of re-submitting under the old one.
Assuming you’ve confirmed there are no intervening registrations, you preserve your priority position in line—you just restart the waiting period.
However, trading time for $25 isn't ideal.
